Transitional Justice (TJ) seeks to address the legacies of conflict and gross human rights abuses through truth-seeking, reparations, accountability measures, and institutional reform. Yet focusing solely on legal or institutional mechanisms often leaves deep emotional and social wounds unhealed. Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) is therefore critical to address the emotional, psychological, and social harms of violence, making TJ more holistic and sustainable. Youth are particularly affected by conflict, but are often overlooked, and have vital roles to play in peacebuilding and justice. Their voices, needs, and leadership are essential for processes that not only acknowledge the past but also build a just and resilient future. This manual equips youth with knowledge and tools to integrate MHPSS within TJ processes, supporting healing, empowerment, and transformation across African contexts.
